From a 25 year career in theatre, to becoming a choreographer, dance instructor, and accomplished licensed massage therapist (specializing in injury rehabilitation), to traveling for half a decade to learn the art of songcatching (collecting traditional songs and stories) across Europe and North America, Geneviève’s road has proved as serpentine as that of the best of folktales. Finding home at the crossroads of music, folklore, (song)writing, movement, and nature, Geneviève now tours internationally as a professional folk musician, multi-instrumentalist, and storyteller, and currently resides in Finland, while studying voice, guitar, nyckelharpa, and how to employ folk music as a vehicle for transcultural communication, multi-cultural community building, and a means of addressing current societal issues, as part a student of the renown Sibelius Academy’s Global Music program.
