Salt

The cure for anything is saltwater: Sweat, Tears, or the Sea.
~ Karen Blixen

Once so valuable a mineral, it was used in lieu of payment, the salt roads of land and sea have existed since time immemorial, weaving endless networks by which news, medicine, food, and people have traveled, carrying music and stories with them to sprout new roots and don new names in foreign soil. From the pulsing ocean currents of the womb, to our own haemoglobin tributaries, to the lunatic, rhythmic, ebb and flow of the tides, we are all connected in an unending web of storylines, made and remade again through saltwater and song.

After a long spell of inner & outer reworkings, The Loom is back with a tale of familial love, loss, lessons…and the value of salt. Following a debute telling in the Sibelius Academy’s Global Spring festival, featuring musicians Khashayar Eshkavari (Iran) & Sebastian Castrillon (Colombia), this marks a new partnership of storytelling and global musicianship.
