From a 25 year career in theatre, to becoming a choreographer, dance instructor, and accomplished licensed massage therapist (specializing in injury rehabilitation), to traveling for half a decade to learn the art of songcatching across Europe and North America, Geneviève’s road has proved as serpentine as that of the best of folktales. Finding home at the crossroads of music, folklore, writing, movement, and nature, Geneviève now tours internationally as a professional folk musician, multi-instrumentalist, and storyteller. Currently they reside in Finland, studying voice, guitar, nyckelharpa, and how to employ folk music as a vehicle for transcultural communication, multi-cultural community building, and a means of addressing current societal issues, within the renown Sibelius Academy’s Global Music program.
