What Is Patreon?
In this day and age, in addition to the full-time work that goes into producing and promoting art, creators are often required to work several side jobs to get by or hope for landing deals with large companies, sometimes allowing very little time or freedom for creation of the art itself. Once upon a time, however—artists, craftspeople, and creators of all kinds had the rare, priviledged possibility of gaining the support of a wealthy patron. In exchange for money, food, clothing, instruments, tools of the trade, etc. the creator would create bespoke works art for their patron, perform at special events, wear their colors, and generally shout their praises through the land.
PATREON is a platform which allows anyone to fulfill the role of the patron for the artists, creators, and entrepreneurs they wish to support, without needing to be independantly wealthy. In exchange for small monthly contributions, they receive various benefits and access to special opportunities or information, such as behind-the-scenes content, early access to music or podcast episodes, and regular newsletters or dialogue with their favorite creators.
